Hiking

 

A visitor who enjoys long walks in nature and anyone who would like to see Taygeto’s beauties, can follow one of the following routes[1]:

  • Mistras – Taygete

Distance: 2,5 kilometers. The route begins from the exit of today’s village to the Byzantine Castle city and ends up to Taygete building area.

  • Parori – Zagouna – Faneromeni

Distance: 3,5 kilometers. The path begins 300 meters from the Parori exit till Ag. Ioannis. In the middle of the path there is a fork that leads to the deserted monastery of Panagia Zagouna and it continues at the Faneromeni Monastery.

  • Faneromeni – Anavriti

Distance: 2 kilometers. The path connects the village with Faneromeni’s Monastery crossing a beautiful canyon with deserted handicraft facilities (tanneries, mills, etc).

  • Ag. Ioannis – Anavriti

Distance: 3 kilometers. It starts at the 3rd kilometer of the Ag. Ioannis – Anavriti street, right after the small church of Ag. Georgios. It goes up to the left side of the ravine and leads to the entrance of Anavriti village.

  • Anavriti – Lakomata

Distance: 4,5 kilometers. The path’s starting point is set from village’s square to the old building area of Lakomata. Across the path and through the forest, the visitor can see natural springs, abandoned farms and some cabins.

  • Diastavrosi – Livadi

Distance: 3 kilometers. The path leads from the path Anavriti – Lakomata to the area near Spanakaki top.

  • Sparta – Mistras Castle

The pedestrian Street starts from Sparta, crosses all along the Knakiona’s river and ends up to the entrance of Mistra’s Castle.

  • Mistras building area – Vouvali area

The route leads from Mistras to Vouvali Area where is located the church of Ag. Ioannis.
